Moto2-DANNY KENT AND FABIO QUARTARARO WORKING ON THE SPEED UP BIKES IN THE FIRST DAYS OF TESTING IN VIEW OF 2018 SEASON
Speed Up Racing Team has just finished the last day of testing at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia before the winter break. The two new Speed Up riders, Danny Kent and Fabio Quartararo, went out on track in 4 days of private test (November 16-17, Jerez de la Frontera, November 20-21, Valencia), making their debut with the Team.
Interesting results for both riders who used the 2 tests to settle in with the Speed Up bikes and the technical staff that will follow them.
In the first two days of testing in Andalusia, Danny Kent got a promising fifth time (1’41.928), and the young Quartararo the 12th (1’42.428) after a long stop in the first day due to a bad crash.
In the second test at the Circuito de la Comunitat Valenciana, the two Speed Up riders continued the work on track they had started last week in Jerez, focusing with their technical staff on adapting the bike to their riding style. Kent and Quartararo ended respectively in thirteenth and fourteenth position in 1’35,761 and 1’35,986 respectively.
The 2018 World Championship will be back next February at the Valencia circuit with the first Official Moto2 Test of the season.
“I’m happy with these 4 days of testing with the team. It was a long year for me, where I could not train much on the track and for this I took some time to find the rhythm on the first day. At the end of the second day, besides having taken off a good time, we have also recovered important information on the setting of the bike. We worked hard with the suspensions while continuing the same work in the 2 days in Valencia. Thanks to the team and my crew for working hard together!”
“There were two positive tests for us, apart from the crash of the first day in Jerez, where we lost a lot of time. We managed to ride well and we did a lot of laps and tried several things on the bike to understand what I liked more in both tests. There is still a lot of work to be done, of course, but it was a very good first impression with this new bike. I’m excited to start the championship with the Speed Up team! ”
