FABIO QUARTARARO IN THE TOP TEN AFTER A GREAT COMEBACK AT THE GRAN PREMIO RED BULL DE ESPAÑA
The young Quartararo brought Speed Up SF18 to points in the first race in Europe of the 2018 Moto2 Championship. The challenge in today’s race started off after the difficult qualifying session of yesterday that saw the French rider score the eighteenth time. Despite the disadvantaged grid position, Quartararo managed to climb up positions lap after lap. Determined to reach the points zone, Fabio continued to gain ground until the last lap ending the race in tenth position. On the other side of the box Danny Kent, started from the p11, unfortunately crashed in the first corner of the eleventh lap. Although the feeling with the bike in the previous days was very good, he had some problems with the gear during the warm up and so in the race that did not allow him to complete a good performance.
FABIO QUARTARARO#20 – 10°
“I’m happy with today’s performance and the improvements we’ve been making since the start of the season. We have to work on driving, we are already doing it but we are not satisfied yet. I’m improving the start and the first laps, I think it is very important. At the next Grand Prix of France in Le Mans I will do my best to reach a great result, the home Grand Prix is always so emotional!”
DANNY KENT#52 – crashed out
“Obviously, I am not happy with the outcome of this weekend. We had shown good potential over the weekend and I had a good feeling with the bike. Unfortunately, from warm up I had some problems back shifting the gear and randomly jumping gears which continued into the race. Sorry to my team, we deserve better results than what we are achieving right now but we have to believe, work hard and the results will come!”

“I am happy with qualifying, p11 is not the best but we have to look how close we are from p4 which is only 0.1! Lap times here are close, the team have done a good job and now I have better feeling with the bike. Tomorrow is important to get a good start to have a good result. I am feeling confident!”
FABIO QUARTARARO#20 – 18th in 1’42.797
“I’m not very satisfied with the grid position, but we have a good race pace and for this we remain confident for tomorrow. Unfortunately, we could not take advantage of the last few minutes of the qualifying with the new tyre, too much traffic on track. Last changes in tomorrow’s warm up and then we will be ready to fight!”

FABIO QUARTARARO#20 – 12th in 1’43.423
“It was quite a positive day because we managed to improve the lap time of the FP1 by almost 5 tenths and because we understood where to work. The goal is to enter the top ten in qualifying improving my driving style and some points of the bike to increase the race pace in tomorrow’s FP3!”
DANNY KENT#52 – 15th in 1’43.442
“Not a perfect start to the weekend, but anyway it’s much better start than what we did in Americas GP. In some areas I feel good but I’m struggling with new and used tyres with rear grip. Me and my team will sit down, look at the data and see what we can do to improve for tomorrow”.
