HDR HEIDRUN SPEED UP AGAIN ON THE PODIUM WITH NAVARRO AT JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA
HDR Heidrun Speed Up team’s rider Jorge Navarro put his heart and soul into today’s race by taking second place. Fabio Di Giannantonio unfortunately was not able to push until the last lap due to a problem at the front but he was nevertheless able to lead a good race by crossing the finish line in twelfth position showing throughout the weekend that he could be competitive.
Two starts for the race due to a dramatic crash of multiple riders at the start, but without serious consequences. The riders immediately returned to the pits after the “red flag” preparing to leave in a short time. In the meantime, the Race Direction announced that the race laps will be 15. When the traffic lights went out, Navarro missed the start losing four positions and immediately after he started recovering positions until the second place that crowns the almost perfect weekend of Jorge Navarro and all his staff.
JORGE NAVARRO#9 – 2nd
“An almost perfect weekend! I am really happy with how we worked, with a couple of extra laps we could have fought for the victory but in any case we are satisfied with this podium. I must say that it’s always exciting to race here in Jerez. I thank the guys in the team for the work and support they give me. See you in Le Mans! “
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO#21 – 12th
“A huge shame because we had a perfect weekend and in the race we could have done a lot much better! We believed it a lot because we all knew that we could aspire to a different position. Unfortunately we had a small problem at the front because of which I could not push more by turning almost a second slower than the other sessions of the weekend. Too bad, but let’s take the positive this weekend with the awareness of being faster, to have taken another step forward and get excited in Le Mans. The day after tomorrow we have a two-day test in Aragon where we will find some important solutions for the next races!”
INCREDIBLE NAVARRO’S POLE POSITION AND TRACK RECORD. DI GIANNANTONIO IN THE THIRD ROW AFTER A GREAT QUALIFYING
HDR Heidrun-Speed Up riders Jorge Navarro and Fabio Di Giannantonio were back in action at Jerez de la Frontera circuit to determine their position on tomorrow’s starting grid after both grabbing direct access to Q2. It was a sensational qualifying in which riders and team gave their best. Navarro pushed his Speed Up bike to the limit to take pole position and broking the all-time lap record to finish with a best of 1’41.182, confirming the improvements achieved since the first race of the season.
A session over the top also for Di Giannantonio who got direct access to the Q2 during the last morning free practice, improving the lap time of Friday by eight tenths. But it is precisely in qualifying that Fabio put his all into the qualifying until the last seconds grabbing the seventh position on the grid.
So the first and third row of the starting grid await us tomorrow at the start of the Moto2 race at 12.20.

“Super super happy with the work we have done this weekend. In the morning session we did several laps with the used tyre trying to find a good rhythm and so after I knew that in qualifying with the new tyre we could be very fast but I didn’t think about the pole position. Once on the track I waited for the right moment to do my best and I managed to do a super lap time. I am very happy, tomorrow we will start from pole and we will see how far we can get!”
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO#21 – 7th in 1’41.451
“Good today! I’m really very happy because since yesterday we have taken a big step forward. I expected to improve a little, but not so much sincerely. We are ready for tomorrow and we can really make a good race, however, feet on the ground, head down and work with maximum concentration because tomorrow we can really do well. Good job Jorge and team, we’re doing really well! “
