A FANTASTIC QUARTARARO FINISHES FIFTH THE PTT THAILAND GRAND PRIX
The new Chang International Circuit does not frighten the MB Conveyors-Speed Up Racing team’s rider Fabio Quartararo who finished fifth in the first Grand Prix of Thailand. From the beginning of the race the young French fought not to miss the leading group. He lost a couple of positions on the second lap but after six laps he was already fifth. With tenacity and determination, he repelled the attacks from behind and sealed the fifth place with a fantastic performance.
The performance of Edgar Pons was also impressive. After a start that penalized him and brought him twenty-seventh, Pons did not give up and fought until the last lap finishing his first race with the MB-Conveyors-Speed Up Racing team at the nineteenth place.
FABIO QUARTARARO#20 – 5th
“A fairly positive race. I had to fight a lot, especially at the beginning so as not to lose the leading group.
I struggle in the early laps cause the feeling with the bike was good and I managed to overtake even aggressive that is what I missed from some races. The fifth place in this new circuit is definitely a good result and we are satisfied with how we are working!”
EDGAR PONS#57 – 19th
“It is not the result we wanted, but I am happy with this first Grand Prix with the MB Conveyors-Speed Up Racing team and above all I am happy to have finished this race because we have collected important data on my way to ride this bike and they will be very useful for the next races. I’m sure that in Japan it will be better! Once again, I thank the team for the work done, see you in Japan!”

The number 20 of the MB Conveyors-Speed Up Racing team closed the three free practice sessions of the PTT Thailand Grand Prix at the top of the standings and set the best free practice time in 1’36.670. Quartararo further improved his time in the QP classifying himself eighth just two tenths from the first. Team-mate Edgar Pons, in his first Grand Prix with the MB Conveyors-Speed Up Racing team, improved his performance in Fp3 ending the session with the twenty-second time. In qualifying Pons could repeat the morning time but not to improve it. For the Spaniard, who was used to drive different bike other than Speed Up, the warm up of tomorrow will be crucial to keep adapting his driving style and improve the feeling with the bike.
FABIO QUARTARARO#20 – 8th in 1’36.670
“Good today! In the last free practice session this morning we focused both on race pace and on the fastest lap. The results were excellent: we made many laps and with a good rhythm. Tomorrow we will start from the eighth position in the third row. It will be a group race because we are all close. We can and must fight from the first lap!”
EDGAR PONS#57 – 25th in 1’37.588
“Even today was a complicated day, but I’m still happy. Even if the position does not reflect the good work we are doing, we are improving a lot on riding this bike. Unfortunately, the qualifyings did not go well as the Fp3, but I have to keep working to understand how the bike works and I think that step by step we will be able to improve. It is a different bike from the one I am used to driving so I have to understand how to bring out its potential. Thanks to my team, tomorrow I will give my best in the race!”

MB CONVEYORS-SPEED UP RACING TEAM: QUARTARARO AND PONS AT WORK IN THE NEW CHANG INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT OF THAILAND
For the first time the PTT Thailand Grand Prix has started today at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram.
The MB Conveyors-Speed Up Racing team’s riders finished the first day of free practice sessions with the tenth (Quartararo#20) and the twenty-fifth (Pons#51) time. The new circuit required the riders and the Speed Up staff to work hard with dedication in the setting up of the Speed Up SF18 bike obtaining positive feedback and important data at the end of the day for both riders.
Quartararo finished the second practice session improving the time obtained in the Fp1 by six tenths. Together with his staff he need to solve acceleration complications that reduced the feeling especially when turning.
The number 57 of the team, Edgar Pons, found the solution to the problems he had in the first session with the front improving the feeling with his Speed Up.
FABIO QUARTARARO#20 – 10th in 1’37.536
“A fairly complicated first day. We lost a lot in 2 turns due to acceleration problems. We have to work on it before tomorrow’s sessions so we can use the Fp3 mainly working on the setting of the bike!”
EDGAR PONS#57 – 25th in 1’38.203
“Today we had some problems with the front wheel in fast turns especially in fp1. The second free practice went better, we had a good lap and reached nineteenth position but they canceled it. We managed to solve the problem with the front and this gives us the motivation to work harder. It’s only the second time that I get onto a Speed Up bike, so we have to try to adapt the bike to my riding style to increase the feeling. I apologize to my team for the crash. More gas tomorrow!”
