DI GIANNANTONIO’S STRONG PERFORMANCE, FOURTH ON THE FINISH. NAVARRO EIGHTH IN GERMAN GP AFTER GREAT COMEBACK
At Sachsenring, the MB Conveyors Speed Up team riders finished the Grand Prix of Germany fourth and eighth.
Di Giannantonio closed the last race before the summer break in fourth place, scoring his best performance by showing determination and competitiveness in a curvy and technical track.
A complicated and unstable weekend instead for Jorge Navarro. During the Grand Prix the feedback was very positive and everything seemed to be in his favor starting from the good pace and the fast lap with which he set the track record in Q1. Unfortunately, the race appeared tough from the wrong start which compromised Navarro’s race. After losing 10 positions Jorge started the comeback to cross the finish line in eighth position.
Moto2 stops for the summer break until the Czech Republic Grand Prix, 2nd-4th August.
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO#21 – 4th
“I think it was our best weekend. We have been fast in all the sessions as well as having had an excellent qualifying. I am happy with the race, after a good start I have always been with the leaders. I lost a little too much time with Marini but in the end it was a great performance and the best rookie result until now. We go on vacation surely more calm and sure of our skills!
JORGE NAVARRO#9 – 8th
“In the end, I believe we must remain positive. This weekend we have shown that we are very fast but at the same time we have had to deal with too many crashes. I know I have to control this; I have to do a reset to start thinking differently. Today I started very badly and then I didn’t want to risk too much, especially in the early laps. With the pace I had in the race I could fight for the podium if only I hadn’t missed the start. I am very sorry, but we must remain positive, even when we are not competing at our level. It will be a constructive pause to return to the maximum thinking of winning!
SECOND AND FOURTH ROW START FOR DI GIANNANTONIO AND NAVARRO IN GRAND PRIX OF GERMANY QUALIFYING
MB Conveyors Speed Up team riders completed the Grand Prix of Germany qualifying held today at the Sachsenring.
During the last free practice session, the team’s rookie improved his lap by almost four tenths from Friday’s time, although the lack of front grip made his driving more complicated. With the eighth time of the combined free practice session (1’24.170), Di Giannantonio obtained direct access to Q2. On the third lap Fabio marked his best qualifying in 1’23.781 taking the fourth position and the second row of the starting grid.
A bitter day for Navarro that after the crash in Fp3 had to face Q1. He passed the round by accessing the Q2 with the best time of the qualifying, setting the track record with an incredible 1’23.426, a time that none of the other riders managed to beat. Unfortunately, during the qualifying Jorge crashed at the end of his best lap seeing himself fade the head of the standings. Tomorrow he will start from the fourth row in eleventh position.

“Very good today. The problems with the bike are always the same but we are understanding how to manage them by improving each session. In the morning we made a step forward by lowering the time by almost four tenths and improving the race pace. In qualifying we did a great fast lap and for the third consecutive time we are in second row. Tomorrow we have to make a good race fighting since the first laps and giving the maximum as always!
JORGE NAVARRO#9 – 11th in 1’23.944
“I am sorry for today! I set the track record during Q1, thus gaining access to Q2. On my fast lap in Q2 I crashed allowing the riders behind me to score their best times. I managed to get back to the pit-box and after a quick tyre change, I returned to the track for the final minutes of the qualifying but it was impossible to find the stability and speed I had before. We need to look ahead; we are not starting from the position we deserved but with the pace we have tomorrow we can have a good race”.
