UNLUCKY SIMONE CORSI AT JEREZ GP
The dream of the second podium in Moto2 for Simone Corsi faded few minutes after the start of the race due to a slip. The rider’s conditions were very good since the first session of free practice. At the s tart of the competition, Corsi snaps very well and bring his Speed Up SF16 in third position behind Lowes and Folger. Suddenly, he crashed on the second hairpin bend, finishing in a bad way the race in which he and the Team knew they could aim high.
“I am very upset about how the race finished, cause since the beginning I felt confident with the bike and the track. We worked a lot and very well with the Team and this is not what we were expecting for this Gp. We cannot wait to get back on track in Le Mans to forget this weekend!”
THIRD ROW FOR SIMONE CORSI AT THE RED BULL GRAND PRIX OF SPAIN
Speed Up Team rider Simone Corsi will contest the first European race of 2016 from the third row in eighth position. The Roman rider set a good lap in 1 ’42.653 at the beginning of the qualifying session. A grid position that does not completely satisfy Simone, but, at the same time, it does not exclude the possibility to be competitive on tomorrow’s race.
“I am pretty happy with the qualifying session, even if the grid position could have been better. After a good initial lap I crashed. When I came back on track I was pushing a lot setting my best lap, but I lost time at the last bend and I couldn’t get a better time. Anyway, I am confident with tomorrow’s race as team and I have been working well and the feeling with the bike is very good. I am sure that tomorrow I can close the gap between us and the first row and fight for the podium”.
FIRST AND SECOND SESSIONS OF FREE PRACTICE AT JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA CIRCUIT
The first free practice day of the Red Bull Grand Prix of Spain has just ended. Simone Corsi and Team Speed Up start the first European race with a good feeling. They got a third position during a good first session of free practice, whereas in the second session the rider slid down on the first lap loosing precious time and finishing the practise in fifteenth place. Anyway, the pace was good even if the tyres were that used in the morning. The last official free practice of tomorrow will be very important for the qualifying session.
“In the afternoon we adjusted the front and when started the second session I slid down at the first lap so Team and I lost precious time in the free practice. The feeling with the bike in the afternoon was better than in the morning. We tried some different bike setups using the same tyres we used in the mornig and finally finding a good setting”.
