A black weekend to forget comes to an end for Corsi and Speed Up Team that finished the race after few laps from the start. Simone is ready to snap from the eleventh position to fourth thanks to a very good start, but he is not able to keep the pace of the leading group because of the lack of grip. The third lap is unfortunately marked by an accident with Baldassarri in which Simone after the crash couldn’t rejoin the race. The feeling found during the warm up of this morning leave the team with good feelings for the next race at the old TT circuit of Assen.
SIMONE CORSI#24 “It has been a difficult weekend and not easy to face. I had some problems with the grip that I wasn’t able to control and that penalized me during all the sessions and the race as well. I want to thank my Team that worked very hard trying to solve any problem”.
SIMONE CORSI WILL START FROM THE FOURTH ROW
The Moto2 qualifying session at Montmeló circuit has just ended on a day marked from yesterday’s tragedy. The track looks now different, new changes and new directives have been fixed for riders safety. During the last free practices the team tested different setups, but Simone could not find the right feeling with the bike. In qualifying official session the rider improved his lap time but he could reach just the eleventh position cause of the loss of grip. Tomorrow’s warmup will be the crucial key for a competitive race.
SIMONE CORSI#24 “The last free practice session of this morning was fundamental for me to get in touch with the changed track. We could do a better qualifying session, but the lack of grip did not let me to increase the pace. We still have few time to get ready and be more competitive before the race”.
FRIDAY FREE PRACTICE SESSIONS OF GRAN PREMI MONSTER ENERGY DE CATALUNYA
Simone Corsi takes a lap time of 1’47.311 on Friday free practice session at Gran Premi de Catalunya. The Montmeló racetrack implies a solid effort from all riders to find a good stability during all the weekend. Speed Up Team is working very hard to improve the grip and find the best setup on the SF16 bike. Tomorrow will be fundamental to make a better lap time during the last free session improving the pace to better compete during the qualifying session. Unfortunately, this day was marked by a tragic event that caused the loss of the young rider Luis Salom.
SIMONE CORSI#24 “We have started the racing weekend with the same bike setup of the last races as I felt confident with it. But the racetrack of this circuit is complicated, limited grip and some holes that don’t help riders. So, the team is now working on the bike finding the right setup for tomorrow. I am very sorry for Luis, I cannot find the words to express the void left within each one of us”.
