LOWES WINS THE RED BULL GRAND PRIX OF AMERICAS
Superb race for Sam Lowes and Team Speed Up on Texan track of Austin, at the second round of the season. The British rider, who started from the second row of
the grid, in pain because of the bad crash of the FP3, won the first race of his career in Moto2 after 19 perfect laps and a great battle with the French Zarco,
overtaken six laps from the end.
SAM LOWES -1st
“It’s incredible that I won the race, the bike was ok, the first two or three laps I had some pain after the pain was completely gone. The race was difficult because we had some rain in the start, but after Zarco has a good pace, I followed him and in the end I pushed more and was enough to win, I am very very happy for the win, and thank you the Team that made a fantastic job!”
FRONT ROW FOR LOWES ON QP OF THE RED BULL GRAND PRIX OF AMERICAS
The rain expected for the second day of the Austin Grand Prix in Austin stayed away from the Texan circuit and allowed the Moto2 riders to take advantage of dry conditions in both FP3 and qualifying. Sam Lowes continued setting record-breaking laps and dominate the sessions despite the back pain consequence of the crash on Friday, unfortunately in qualifying was victim of another crash after his fast lap, but this did not prevent him to close in second place with a time of 2’09.942 and conquer the first row on the grid.
SAM LOWES – 2ND – in 2’09.942
“I am happy because the goal is always to start on the front row, and after the two big crashes yesterday it was difficult for me because I am in some pain. On the bike is not a big problem, so it is not an excuse but I didn’t feel the best, so I am really happy to start from the front row, The race should be good, I hope its dry, because it will be a nice battle with the guys, and we will see. For sure I have to stop crashing and learn a little bit. But I am happy with my pace and maybe I just need to calm down a bit. Tomorrow it is important to finish, and I hope to have a good race, have a nice battle and do the best I can. I want to thank the Team for the support and the working hard”.

“I feel okay, while it’s not good to crash, but for me last year on this track was not good for me, so I pushed a lot in the first dry session we had, as maybe tomorrow it will rain. I feel really good on the bike, I have a small injury to my foot but I think it will be okay! In the wet and the dry I feel good, and before today I thought this track would be a big problem for me, because last year was not good, but in the
first session I made 14 laps on the same tyre and I was fast, for this I am really happy!”
