Moto2- RACE-MONSTER ENERGY GRAND PRIX ČESKÉ REPUBLIKY
SIXTH PLACE FOR SIMONE CORSI AT BRNO, IN A TWO-PART, RAIN-AFFECTED GRAND PRIX. TWENTY-SEVENTH PLACE FOR FERNANDEZ.
The intermittent rain conditioned the Czech Grand Prix, forcing Race Direction to bring the red flags out after seven laps.
The second grid line-up was based on the standings after the first part and six final laps was the decision took by the commission. Simone Corsi, who kicked-off the second part of the race from the sixteenth position, he managed to climb up to sixth place, thus recovering ten positions in just six laps.
A complicated weekend, however, for Spaniard teammate Augusto Fernandez, who wasn’t able to face with his team the feeling problems in dry (first part of the race) and wet conditions (second part). He finished his first Czech Gp twenty-seventh looking ahead to the next race at the Austrian circuit.
SIMONE CORSI#24 – 6°
“In the first part of the race I felt unstable because the track conditions were terrible to me. Fortunately, they stopped the race for the rain. In the wet the feeling has definitely increased and I managed to recover ten positions by placing sixth at the end of the race. I’m sure I could have done much more with some laps more”.
AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ#37 – 27°
“It was not an easy weekend. Friday we started well in both conditions, wet and dry, but then we were not able to improve. Today I missed the feeling in both parts of the race and I didn’t want to risk the crash in case of pushing more because the point zone was still far from my position. We will do better in Austria!”
Moto2-QUALIFYING AT MONSTER ENERGY GRAND PRIX ČESKÉ REPUBLIKY
CORSI, PENALIZED FOR THE CONTACT WITH AEGERTER, WILL START FROM THE FOURTH ROW AFTER THE DECISION OF THE RACE DIRECTION. NINTH ROW FOR AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ.
In the second day of the Grand Prix at Brno circuit Simone Corsi was penalized after the contact with Aegerter during the qualifying session. The day had begun well for the Roman rider, who placed fourth in the morning in the combination of the free practices with just few tenths from the first. In qualifying, during his fast lap, Corsi found the track very crowded and could not avoid the contact with Aegerter while overtaking him. At the end of the session, he placed ninth, but the race direction penalized him with three grid positions due to the contact. The Speed Up rider will then start tomorrow from the third position of the fourth row. Augusto Fernandez, at his first Grand Prix at the Brno circuit, is struggling with the team to find the right bike setting, but remains confident for the race as they still have the warm up to find the setting. The Spanish rider placed twenty-seventh, so he will start tomorrow’s race from the ninth row of the grid.

“This morning I had a good session, we were ready for qualifying. On my first fast lap I was forced to slow down by the traffic on the track. I was about to score a good time when I crashed with Aegerter. The fall unfortunately has made us waste valuable time, when we got back on track the conditions had changed and I could not improve the lap time. Too bad for the penalty, I do not think it was necessary, but we respect the decision of the race direction. We still remain positive for tomorrow’s race! “
AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ#37 – 27°
We are struggling hard with the setup of the bike. We could not find the right set up to increase the feeling. Any time I returned at the box we tried new solutions, but as soon as I tried to push I felt the limit. Tonight and tomorrow during the warm up we will work to get to the points area! “

“It was a very positive day for us. This morning I really had a good feeling on the wet. In the FP2 we focused on the race pace with used tires looking at the race. We had positive feedbacks in both conditions. We know that the weather will be variable throughout the weekend and we still do not know what the conditions will be for the race. We will be competitive anyway! “
AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ#37 – 21st in 2’04.604
“A good start after the break. I am happy to have been able to improve the lap time since the first day of testing and then reduce the gap from the first. I like the track even if it is very difficult. Tomorrow we will continue with the set-up and especially with the familiarization with the new track”.
