COLLIN VEIJER, WHAT A WEEKEND! EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE OF THE YOUNG DUTCH AT HIS FIRST RACE WEEKEND IN MOTO3
Last weekend Speed Up Junior team and the pre-moto3 2018 vice champion, Collin Veijer, kicked off the 2019 season of the Italian Speed Championship class Moto3 at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
The promising young Dutch, in his debut in the category, impresses and excites with his talent during the weekend. After reaching the ninth place of the grid in Saturday’s qualifying, Collin made a good start in both races. In race1 a brake problem hindered his driving, but the Speed Up rider put it all out and crossed the finish line in fourth position. The following day, in race2, the young rider fought tightly with the leading group and finished seventh with just one second behind the winner.
The next round of the Moto3 CIV will be at the Mugello International Circuit on April 26-27-28.
Collin Veijer#95: “Of course I am happy with my 4th place in race1, but the 7th place in race2 gave me a lot more satisfaction because I was able to compete continuously in the leading group. I also learned a lot in this race. The gap from the winner at the end of the race was only one second and in race1 it was approximately twelve seconds. I finished the first racing weekend of the season taking the 4th place in the general classification. The team and I are very satisfied of my first Moto3 performance. A big thank to my Speed Up Junior team for the work they did and to all my sponsors. I can’t wait for the next race in Mugello, I will work very hard to get ready to the second round of the championship!”
