Fabio Di Giannantonio brought his Speed Up SFT20 to the third step of the podium of the Gran Premi de Catalunya after 22 laps of pure emotion together with the incredible fourth place of Jorge Navarro. The Race. From fourth position Fabio started very well, taking him immediately after the start to second place behind Marini. On lap eight he was joined by Lowes. The number 21 maintained pace and position until the finish line, making it his well-deserved third step of the podium. Jorge Navarro’s race was also excellent, returning to the top 5 after a long time. The Spaniard fought until the end with Roberts for the fourth place, getting the better of him, satisfied and aware of having given his all.
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO # 21 – 2nd
“I’m very happy! We made a terrific podium and I really enjoyed it. At the beginning I was there in front with Luca, it’s a pity that Sam made me lose my rhythm a bit at the start of the race but I’m happy! We did a great job this weekend, we’re coming back slowly and nothing, I’m so happy for me and for the team, gives us morale. Let’s go to Le Mans even more excited!”.
JORGE NAVARRO # 9 – 4th
“Today I’m happy because we finished this weekend well first with the second position on the grid in yesterday’s quali and then with a very solid race today! We will certainly learn a lot from this weekend and we will get important information from the race that will help us improve the bike and my riding. So let’s take note of the points we can and must improve and continue to work at home over the next few days. All in all I feel satisfied and certainly much more motivated. Go on like this!”.
QUALIFYING: FIRST AND SECOND ROW FOR NAVARRO AND DIGGIA AT THE GRAN PREMI DE CATALUNYA
The HDR Heidrun Speed Up team closed the Catalan qualifying day in the first and second row.
From Q1 to Parc Fermé, a superb Jorge Navarro. A weekend started badly with eighteenth place in the combined free practice standings, forced to fight in Q1 to gain access to the final qualifying. Jorge and his technicians changed the set-up for the first qualifying and with the third time they moved into Q2 ready to fight for the top positions of the starting grid. In the fifteen minutes available, Jorge not only scored his best lap in 1’43.536 with which he took second place and the front row, but also demonstrated that he has an excellent pace for tomorrow’s race.
Di Giannantonio only confirmed what he started yesterday by taking an excellent fourth time in free practices in 1’43.815, thus gaining direct access to Q2. Even in qualifying, Fabio proved to have an excellent feeling as well as a good pace, finishing fourth just +0.015 from the front row.
JORGE NAVARRO #9 – 2nd in 1’43.536
“We are finally back at the Parc Fermé, even if on a Saturday but it is still a good sign. In reality it has been a complicated weekend so far, the sensations with the bike have never been good until Q1 where we made some important changes that immediately gave me good signs. Before Q2 we fixed some more details and I tried to ride the bike more fluently. Happy to have reached the front row but above all to have found a good pace which is essential for tomorrow’s race. Now we have to analyze the data well to understand where we can improve further and tomorrow start confident and aware that we can stay there!”.
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21 – 4th in 1’43.652
“Happy with this second day because we start from the second row and therefore we are again close to the leaders. We were close to being really up front and so I’m a little sorry, but I’m happy because in the end this is the first weekend where we’ve always been fast and with a good pace. Let’s see tomorrow, we are excited and ready to have a good race!”.
FREE PRACTICES: DIGGIA FOURTH AND NAVARRO SIXTEENTH ON CATALAN FRIDAY
The two free practice sessions of this Friday have opened the ninth round of the Moto2 World Championship at the Catalunya circuit, Barcelona.
At the end of the first day Fabio Di Giannantonio and Jorge Navarro classified respectively in fourth and sixteenth position.
Fifth time for Fabio in the morning FP1, signed at the end of the session in 1’44.709. In the second session of the Catalunya Grand Prix, Diggia was second after lowering the morning time in 1’44.597, +0.475 from the first, closing the first day with the fourth fastest time in the combined times ranking.
Jorge ended the first session in eighteenth place with the time of 1’45.222. The Spaniard suffered lack of grip and struggled to find the feeling on the Catalan track. He improved his time by a tenth during the afternoon session by testing both tires at the rear without noticing a big difference. Seventh place for Jorge in FP2, but sixteenth in the combined times ranking.
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO # 21 – 4th in 1’44.597
“Delighted because it is the first weekend in a year now in which we have started well. We started with the Misano base which seems to be working for the moment. This afternoon the track conditions were not optimal, there was a lot of wind, but we still managed to improve the time, we were fast. So positive, all good for the moment but we mustn’t let our attention down. We have to stay focus because tomorrow one of the two most important days begins and therefore it will be important to improve tomorrow morning, enter Q2 already, do a good Q2 and prepare well for the race!”.
JORGE NAVARRO # 9 – 16th in 1’45.122
“Today we started riding on a new track after the two weeks at Misano and the first thing I noticed is that the grip is much less, regardless of the tire we use. In FP1 we have always worked with hard tires and in FP2 the wind made the conditions more difficult even if we tried some changes to understand what we need. The truth is that the feeling was not great, perhaps also due to the wind. We will then analyze the data with the aim of making a step forward in the last free practice session of tomorrow and prepare ourselves as best we can for qualifying”.

The sixth and final round of the ELF CIV Pre Moto3 250 4T championship took place last weekend at the Autodromo di Vallelunga.
Collin Veijer brought his Speed Up bike on the top step of the podium in Race2. A spectacular performance by the young Dutch rider who since the free practice of the weekend had a good race pace both in dry and wet conditions.
Collin marked the first time of free practice and then he got the pole position in qualifying and so he started from the first position of the starting grid in both races. Unfortunately, in Race 1 Veijer crashed out during the wet race but did not give up, got back on the bike and finished the race in points in thirteenth position.
Collin Vejier#95: “I’m quite satisfied with this last round. We started from pole position in both races. In race1 I was unlucky because I pushed a bit too much in the rain, slipping off the track, but I was able to take the bike and finish the race in points anyway. I’m happy to have won Race2, I really had a good feeling on the dry. I want to thank the JCR Team very much, I’m really happy with this season and for the work we did. I also want to thank all the sponsors, the personal ones and the team’s, because without them I could not realize my dream. Grazie mille a tutti!”

Many thanks to the sponsors who make this possible for me”.
