Moto2-RACE AT MOTORLAND DE ARAGÓN
CORSI TAKES SEVENTH PLACE WITH HIS SPEED UP SF7. FERNANDEZ CLOSES THE GP DE ARAGON TWENTY-SECOND
Speed Up Racing team finished in the points at the Gran Premio de Aragón with Simone Corsi who arrived seventh at the finish after 21 race laps. Starting from the second position of the second row, the Roman rider found himself recovering a small gap from the first group immediately after the start of the race. In a few laps, he recovered the gap finding a good pace throughout the race that brought him to place seventh.
Even Augusto Fernandez, after an uphill start, did not lose heart and struggled until the end, though the grip problems at the back accused for the first time after 2 days of practice session quite positive.
SIMONE CORSI#24 – 7°
“I expected more than the seventh place from today’s race. On the first lap, Schrotter made a mistake at turn eight and I lost precious time there, I think almost a second and a half from the head group. I managed to close the gap in 2-3 laps, but then I could not keep the fifth position, we are still missing something on the setup. The grip has dropped after a few laps and I accused chattering problems. In tomorrow’s test we will try to figure out what’s wrong and what we miss to stay among the top 5!”
AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ#37 – 22°
“I started off badly, but when I was able to recover a bit and to take the group ahead I thought I could find the pace again, but that did not happen. I had a grip problem, both in braking and coming from a turn, I did not keep the bike in trajectory, I did a lot of effort. Too bad that we could do a good race! “

SIMONE CORSI#24 – 5th in 1’53.876
“I am very happy with the fifth position. We have worked well with the team and this second row is for us really important for tomorrow’s race. The race will be long, we have to make a good start and not break away from the first group. The Motorland track is one of my favourite, we are ready to make a great result!”
AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ#37 – 22nd in 1’54.883
“What a shame! We could have start the race from a better position after the weekend we were doing. I could not find the fast ride. I insisted too much with no results. But we won’t back down because the pace is good and if we stay with the group in front we can do a good competition!”

SIMONE CORSI#24 – 5th in 1’55.273
“Today was a special day because both sessions were marked by the rain. We preferred not to force on the wet track during the FP1, and in the afternoon, just after the track got almost dried, we started the session and immediately we adapted to the track with the slick tyres. Well the fifth position, but we can do more in more stable conditions!”
AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ#37 – 14th in 1’55.928
“I finally came to a circuit I know pretty well. We started off on the right foot by marking good times in different climatic conditions. The feeling is good, we must continue to work in this way if we want to compete in the race.”
