MB CONVEYORS SPEED UP

RACE: TOUGH SUNDAY FOR THE MB CONVEYORS SPEED UP TEAM AT THE GRAN PREMIO DE ARAGÓN

Not a positive day for the MB Conveyors Speed Up team which must accept a bitter conclusion to what could and should have been a redemption Sunday for Jorge Navarro after the crash on French soil and confirmation of an excellent weekend for Fabio Di Giannantonio.

A good start and a superlative first part of the race for Diggia until turn number two on lap 11 when he crashed down from p1, closing in advance what could have been his first Moto2 victory.

Also for Jorge the race ended earlier, just a few meters after the start when he crashed to the ground after making contact with another rider. Fortunately, both MB Conveyors Speed Up riders came out unscathed from their crashes.

The next race is already upon us. The twelfth round of the 2020 Moto2 World Championship is scheduled for next weekend once again at Motorland Aragón.

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21 – DNF
“Everything was perfect, the strategy was to go up front and impose my pace because in the first two sectors I was definitely going faster and I wanted to make a difference there. Too bad I made the mistake, I went wide and the bike closed in front of the 2nd wasted such an opportunity, I’m so sorry but I tried. A little bitter taste in the mouth but head held high because we are there, and we are fast and we have another race here at Motorland to prove it! “.
JORGE NAVARRO #9 – DNF
“I’m not sure what to say, the truth is that today I felt ready to do a good race. In the warm up we had the confirmation that today we could fight for the podium, but the hope went out at the first corner when I came into contact with a rider who had gone wide and then getting back on the line, he touched my front wheel and so I crashed. I feel lucky because today it could have ended very badly and I thank God I’m fine. Other riders managed to dodge me and so in the end I am happy to be well. Back in the pits, the mechanics repaired the bike and I went back to the track for another 17 laps to understand our level and, without risking too much, my race pace was that of the leaders. This certainly makes me angry but at the same time it gives me the right energy for the next race, always here at Motorland!”.

QUALIFYING: FIRST AND SECOND ROW FOR MB CONVEYORS SPEED UP TEAM

A superb qualifying session at the Motorland de Aragón led both MB Conveyors Speed Up team riders to secure the first and second rows of the starting grid for the Gran Premio de Aragón.

Diggia took first place in the free practice combined standings, setting the best time towards the end of FP3 in 1’52.171. Fabio showed not only a good speed but also good pace and on his return to the track for qualifying he hit the target. With the time 1’51,870, team 21 took third position on tomorrow’s grid.

Positive day also for Jorge Navarro who finished the free practices with the sixth place in 1’52.751 with a gap of +0.580 from his teammate. He then got direct access to Q2 in which he was able to grab the second row with qualifying sixth time of 1’52.167.

New schedule for tomorrow’s Moto2 race, live at 13:20 CET.

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21 – 3rd in 1’51.870
“The front row was definitely our goal. My goal to be honest was to take pole, we tried but it wasn’t possible, the others had something more. However, I am happy to start from the front row. We have to try to take another step especially in managing the rear tire and then in my opinion we are there, tomorrow we can fight to win!”.
JORGE NAVARRO #9 – 6th in 1’52.167
“Today was a positive day. The changes we made to the setup during FP3 allowed us to improve our fastest lap. We then continued to work on the small details before qualifying and nothing, finally sixth. The pace and the sensations are good for a good race!”.

FREE PRACTICE: DIGGIA TOPS GRAN PREMIO DE ARAGÓN FREE PRACTICES, NAVARRO ELEVENTH

Friday’s Gran Premio de Aragón takes on the MB Conveyors Speed Up team’s colours.

Fabio Di Giannantonio left his mark taking the best free practice time of 1’52.748 during the second session. Navarro also did well, taking eleventh time in day1.An excellent feeling from the first laps on track for Fabio despite the difficult conditions caused by the wind and low temperatures. Diggia closed FP1 in third position in 1’53.449 with an almost irrelevant gap from the first, +0.058. During the afternoon session, after a tire change and a small change to the setting, Fabio considerably lowered the morning time and after a series of fast laps he set the best time of the day.

Positive Friday also for Jorge Navarro who closed the first session with the fifth time in 1’53.734, +0.343 from the first. The number 9 and his team then dedicated the second session to the setup, finishing the session with eleventh in 1’53.344.

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21 – 1st in 1’52.748
“Today went well, we have been fast from the first session. Then in the afternoon when we put on the new tires we improved even more by closing the first day with the best time. We started off with an excellent base from the last few races and this certainly helped me improve my driving by managing to refine small details. I’m happy, we hope to continue like this tomorrow”.
JORGE NAVARRO #9 – 11th in 1’53.344
“First day in Aragón conditioned by the wind, even if in the end we rode fast. We made some changes to the bike between the two sessions to get as much data as possible in order to understand in which direction to move tomorrow to improve the feeling and gain positions. Positive and with the desire to get back on track”.
