RED BULL GRAND PRIX OF THE AMERICAS: CORSI REPEATS ARGENTINIAN COMEBACK AND SCORES SEVENTH PLACE, BASSANI TWENTY-FOURTH IMPROVES
After the Speed Up SF7 positive performance at Termas de Rio Hondo circuit, Simone Corsi repeats the Argentine comeback by making an excellent race again here in Austin. Positive signs of improvement for the rookie Axel Bassani at his first Gp of the Americas.
Both the two Speed Up riders, together with their engineers, use the warm up in the morning to find the right setup for the race.
Once again, the Roman rider, 17th on the grid, immediately starts the climb towards the top riders and after seven laps he is already seventh. Rookie Bassani recovers the right confidence with the bike and gets good feedback on the race pace.

“I am happy with the result even if we could do more and fight for the fifth position. I decided to do not take the risk as I felt I was on the limit with the bike. Unfortunately, we still have chattering problems that annoys us. As soon as we find a solution, I am sure we will reduce the gap from the top riders. Anyway, we are happy for the comeback and very positive for next race in Jerez!”
AXEL BASSANI#47 – 24°
“We only managed today to improve more than a second and six tenths the lap time, I am sorry for this because I could have done a better qualifying if yesterday I would had ridden as today and so start from a better position. In any case, we are happy because we improved a lot and I feel better with the bike. I can’t wait for Jerez Gp, finally a track that I know very well!!”
SIXTH AND ELEVENTH ROW FOR SPEED UP TEAM RIDERS IN GP OF THE AMERICAS QUALIFYING AT AUSTIN
The latest Moto2 practice sessions on the Austin circuit has just concluded. Speed Up bikes placed seventeenth with Simone Corsi and thirty-second with rookie Axel Bassani. The two riders will start tomorrow from the sixth and eleventh row on the grid.
SIMONE CORSI#24 – 17TH
“I’m not happy with the position at all. During qualifying session, we were able to figure out what changes to make to the bike and we will test them tomorrow during the warm up. We’re working hard to fix the setting. Today I missed the incisiveness on the single lap, I could not use the tyre as I could. I’m still determined to make a good race and grab as many positions as I did in Argentina!”
AXEL BASSANI#47 – 32ND
“I’m sorry about the position, but most of all I’m very disappointed because I did not improve yesterday’s time. I have to increase the feeling with the bike, find the right setup and get in closer to the track. There is still a lot to do, but I’m ready to fight for a better result!”
GP OF THE AMERICAS. FIRST DAY OF FREE PRACTICE SESSIONS FOR SPEED UP TEAM
The round 3 to be held this weekend at the modern Circuit of the Americas near Austin (Texas) has started. Speed Up rider Simone Corsi concluded the first day of free practice with some chattering problems. During the first session, he placed tenth with a lap time of 2’12.533, nine tenths gap. The rider managed to improve his lap time in session 2 but not the position, concluding the session seventeenth in 2’11.913.
For the first time in this complicated track, Speed Up rookie Axel Bassani familiarized with the circuit from the beginning and tried together with the team to find a good bike setup. He concluded thirty-first in 2’14.085.
“I am not happy with today. I struggled to much on track because of some chattering problems. I couldn’t push more and accelerate well because the bike tended to move around a lot. Tomorrow we will work to solve these chattering problems and find the right setting for the qualifying”.
“I think we started well. This morning I had a good feeling with the bike, but in the afternoon we tried a different setup that was not as good as the first one because I started feeling some chattering problems when riding the second session. This circuit is very demanding, very long and with a lot of turns, but I like it, even if it is easy to make mistakes. I hope I will improve in qualifying, I will do my best!”
