In the race, he held third place lap after lap, and when in the end he was overtaken by Manzi, he just didn’t fit and pushed it all until he regained the third position and the podium. Fabio Diggia is also gritty. In the race he danced from eighth to 10th position, resisted and closed ninth among the applause of the public. JORGE NAVARRO #9 – 3rd
“A difficult race today, but we are satisfied and happy to finish this 2019 with another podium, especially here at home. This morning in the warm up we had finalized those details that we missed yesterday and the feeling was great, I felt good over the bike and already in my head I knew we could have fought for the victory. In the race, however, the conditions changed, there was wind and I suffered problems at the front when I turned, the feeling changed and I couldn’t push more. However very very happy and I want to thank the team for the trust in me this season and for the great work we have done together, from pole positions to podiums all. It has been an incredible year and I hope the next one can be even better! “.
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21 – 9th ROOKIE OF THE YEAR!
“Amazing day, I am Rookie of the year! Today in the race I didn’t push that much because I knew it would have been enough to control the positions of Bastianini and Martin to be Rookie and so it was a race under management, however, in Top10 with a good performance. Very happy! Thanks to all the guys in the team, to all my team and to the sponsors for this first step done together this year. Daje!”.

“Super happy about the pole here at home. We are working very well this weekend but we lacked something we could find before qualifying. It took me a few laps to get well with the changes I made before getting back on track, but once I found the right pace, I managed to get a good time. Now with the team we will analyze the data well to see if we can still improve, but with the pace we have tomorrow we can fight for victory”.
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21 – 6th in 1’34.704
“I am happy today, because at the end of this morning we took another big step forward. Too bad this afternoon because I started really strong and I thought I could lower the time a lot. I made a small mistake that I paid, I’m sorry. However positive and aware of being able to do well tomorrow. We still have the warm-up to fine-tune the last things and then we can fight”.

“This is certainly an excellent day after the last few weekends that have not been too positive. I have been fast since the morning and with the bike I immediately found myself very well. We still have several points to improve, especially on the grip we lack at the rear, but all in all we did a great job today so let’s see how it goes tomorrow, we can take another step forward the important thing is to stay focused and try to get closer to Binder who seems have a great feeling”.
JORGE NAVARRO #9 – 7th in 1’35.396
“Very positive this first day. I found myself well with the bike from the first free practice session and then in the afternoon we made some changes with which we were able to improve the feeling. In the second round we also focused on the rhythm, working ahead of the race, getting excellent feeling even with used tyre. Tomorrow we will focus on some small details to improve before qualifying, we are ready to give our best”.
BETA TOOLS SPEED UP
MALAYSIA GRAND PRIX: NAVARRO FIFTH IN COMEBACK RACE, DI GIANNANTONIO CRASHES OUT IN LAP 2
The last overseas Grand Prix of the Moto2 World Championship at the Sepang International Circuit has just ended. The Beta Tools Speed Up team leaves Malaysia with Jorge Navarro’s fifth place, author of a stunning comeback and Fabio Di Giannantonio’s crash on the second lap.
At the start both Fabio and Jorge made no mistake, the rookie was seventh at the end of the first lap with four positions recovered, while the Spaniard maintained the fifteenth position ready to leave the big group already in the following lap. Unfortunately, an error at the second lap stopped Diggia’s race. After the crash at turn 4, Fabio immediately returned to the pit-box ready to back in the race after changing the right platform, but a couple of laps from the return to the track he was forced to retire due to problems with the bike caused by the crash.
Navarro struggled in the first laps but then found the rhythm and stareted the comeback. Ten are the positions he was able to recover from the start then crossing the finish line in fifth position.
JORGE NAVARRO #9 – 5th
“Complicated race because we started from an awkward position and in the first laps there was a bit of confusion in which I was not able to recover as I would have wished, losing a lot of time. Then I started shooting at a good pace and speed and from there I was able to start the comeback. The bike worked well today, the changes we made also so I’m happy, I’m just sorry that the title race ends here with this race. However, I am satisfied with the work we are doing and have done so far. Now let’s think about giving our best in the home race in Valencia”.
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21 – DNF
“What a pity! I’m very sorry for the team because we were able to find a nice package for today’s race but I threw everything with a stupid mistake on the second lap. I could have been calmer and avoided the crash but it was like that and we must consider it as a learning and growth mistake. Head up and continue to work, ready to Valencia”.
