OFFICIAL TEST JEREZ 23-24-25 NOV

FIRST OFFICIAL TEST WITH THE NEW TRIUMPH-POWERED SF19T SPEED UP BIKE

The Speed Up Racing Team finished yesterday yesterday the first winter test of the 2019 season at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit. The two new Speed Up riders, Jorge Navarro and Fabio Di Giannantonio, went out on track for the first time with the new Speed Up SF19T bike powered by Triumph kicking off the new Moto2 class Speed Up-Triumph era.

Positive feedback for both riders during the three days of official test in which they fully exploited each session collecting data essential for the development of their bikes. The uncertain weather conditions limited the laps on the track but at the same time gave the opportunity to team and riders to ride on dry and wet track thus trying different setting solutions.

Jorge Navarro, in his third season in the Moto2 class, placed sixth in the final rankings, taking an excellent lap time of 1’42.196, while Di Giannantonio, vice Moto3 World Champion 2018, immediately found himself at ease in the new class closing sixteenth his first Moto2 test in 1’42.812.

Jorge Navarro#9 – 6th in 1’42.196

“It was a really good three day test even if the weather did not allow us to work as we would have liked, but in any case we took advantage of all the time we had available. I am very well integrated into the team, I like the bike very much and I had good feeling from the beginning, in fact we have improved continuously. Unfortunately, on the second day it rained before the afternoon session where we wanted to try some changes but in any case we found to be competitive in both conditions. I am very happy and I can’t wait to  continue working”.

Fabio Di Giannantonio#21 – 16th in 1’42.812

“I’m very happy because I did not expect to have this feeling with the bike. It was the first time I was on a 600cc and I really thought I had to start from zero instead I found myself very well. I like it and I feel good with the triumph engine, the bike pushes a lot and it’s really nice to ride it. I must say that it has been three really positive days; the first day we worked on me and my driving style, then slowly we started working on the bike with positive feedback and continuous improvements even in the wet. It’s always nice to finish the year with good vibes!”

HDR HEIDRUN-SPEED UP: RACE

QUARTARARO GREETS THE TEAM WITH A FANTASTIC COMEBACK IN A DRAMA FILLED GRAND PRIX OF VALENCIA

At the last race of the 2018 season, Fabio Quartararo greeted the HDR heidrun-Speed Up team with a fantastic comeback confirming the tenth position in the final classification of the Moto2 World Championship.

A few seconds from the warm up lap, an unexpected problem during the turning on of the bike forced Fabio to leave the ninth position on the grid and start the race from the last position. The lights went out, Fabio made a good start and at the end of the first lap he was already twelfth. Many crashes during the race due to the slippery asphalt for the rain fell in the first laps, but Quartararo did anything wrong and fought until the last lap by crossing the Ricardo Tormo finish line in sixth position.

Unfortunately, the young Marcon crashed out in the third turn of the seventh lap of the race. A difficult weekend for Tommaso who had to face his first Grand Prix of the World Championship in the rain, but he was able to show great commitment and dedication.

FABIO QUARTARARO#20 – 6 th
“The race was quite difficult because I started from last position, but I managed to start very well and to overcome several riders in the first lap. I managed to finish the race sixth and it was the best result we could have achieved because we did not have the potential to fight further. We closed the Moto2 championship quite well and for this I want to thank the whole team for this difficult year together and for the goals achieved, thanks very much”.

TOMMASO MARCON#70– not classified
“It was a very difficult race because with the wet track there was very little grip. Precisely for this reason after half of the race I fell at turn three. I really thank the team for the opportunity given to me this weekend and for the work done together”.

HDR HEIDRUN-SPEED UP: QUALIFYING

THIRD AND NINTH ROW FOR THE HDR HEIDRUN-SPEED UP RIDERS AT THE GRAN PREMIO MOTUL DE LA COMUNITAT VALENCIANA

The HDR heidrun-Speed Up riders Fabio Quartararo and Tommaso Marcon took respectively the ninth and twenty-seventh time of today’s qualifying.

In tomorrow’s race, which closes the 2018 World Championship, the riders will start from the third and ninth row of the starting grid.

The rain spoilt even the last free practice session, while in the afternoon the qualifying were held on a dry track with wet sections. Quartararo and his staff found two good setting solutions that allowed the French rider to have a good race pace both with dry and wet conditions.

A positive day for the new HDR heidrun-Speed Up rider Tommon Marcon. In the third free practice session he crashed out on the first lap and was forced to the garage for the first part of the session, but when he went back to the track, he managed to shorten the gap improving the feeling with the Speed Up. Marcon’s progress continued in the qualifying where, determined, he got the twenty-seventh time at the last lap of the race.

FABIO QUARTARARO#20 – 9 th in 1’36.396
“A day a bit strange, especially for the track conditions. This morning we rode in wet track and in the afternoon the track was dry but not entirely because some parts were still wet. Tomorrow it seems it will rain again and therefore we should adapt to the situation. The sessions in the rain went quite well, the feeling was good and so we will try to do the race as best as we always do”.

TOMMASO MARCON#70– 27th in 1’37.483
“Today’s qualifying went well. It was the first dry round of the weekend and with this bike that still presents some differences from the Speed Up that I’m used to driving in the CEV. The gap is not so bad, we have really improved a lot from the three practice sessions and I am sure that with a few more laps we could continue to improve. I thank my staff for the excellent work we are doing together, I am really happy to be here”.

HDR HEIDRUN-SPEED UP: PRACTICE

RAIN SPOILT THE FIRST FREE PRACTICE SESSIONS, BUT QUARTARARO HAS A GOOD PACE

The HDR heidrun-Speed Up riders have just finished the first day of free practice sessions at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia. As predicted, the rain did not give respite even for a second during the two free practice sessions of the Grand Prix Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana, but Quartararo did not give up and closed the Valencia Friday in the top ten. The young Frenchman started off the weekend on the right foot and in fp2 he fought among the first for most of the time proving an excellent race pace even in the rain.
Debut in this last Grand Prix of the 2018 season for the rider Tommaso Marcon, 18-year-old, who is riding a Speed Up bike in the CEV Moto2-class. At his first race in the World Championship, Marcon placed thirty-second at the end of the day slowed down by the rain and by the lack of feeling with the bike on a wet track.

FABIO QUARTARARO#20 – 10 th in 1’48.432
“It was a pretty positive day. We had a good feeling with the bike in the wet but we have to improve on some points to be faster. Most likely it will not rain tomorrow and therefore we will have to work on the setting and quickly adapt to the different track conditions “

TOMMASO MARCON#70– 32nd in 1’53.529
“An exciting first day for my debut. I’m sorry for the weather that complicated the situation, especially because in the wet I miss experience, but I’ll do my best to enjoy this opportunity. There have been continuous improvements in both sessions but just as I was marking my best time of the day I lost control of the bike and I crashed”.

MB CONVEYORS-SPEED UP: RACE

QUARTARARO FIFTH AND PONS TWENTIETH AT SEPANG INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT

The last leg of the overseas grand prix of the World Championship Moto2 2018 has just ended at the Sepang International Circuit under the scorching Malaysian sun.
Fabio Quartararo crossed the finish line in fifth position, while Edgar Pons finished the race twentieth. When the lights went off, the MB Conveyors-Speed Up riders made a good start but both made a mistake at the first turn of the first lap losing several positions at the beginning of the race.
Quartararo, third on starting grid, unfortunately lost the top riders a few seconds from the start of the race. With determination attempted the comeback and lap after lap from P9 came fifth once again taking precious points that allow him to stay in the top ten of the World Championship standings.
On the other side of the garage, Edgar Pons lost ten positions on the first lap. The number 57 of the team didn’t lose the concentration and focused on a good race pace he closed the race twentieth. It was not the performance expected by rider and team, but it was in any case the confirmation of the progress achieved with the Speed Up bike in just four grand prix.

FABIO QUARTARARO#20 – 5th
“The result is not bad, but it’s not what I expected. It was a difficult race, I started well but I made a mistake at the first TURN where I lost several positions. The pace of the race was good, especially after the fight with Fernandez in which I lost a lot of valuable recovery time. We could fight for the podium, but it went like this. Now we think on the last race in Valencia!”

EDGAR PONS#57 – 20th

“A shame! I started well but then I made a mistake at the first turn in which I lost a lot of positions. Fortunately, no one has taken me from behind since I stopped in the middle of the turn. On the first lap I was twenty-ninth, then I started to ride with a good rhythm doing good laps and I was able to recover positions during the race. I’m sorry, we were working well and finally I had a good start. I’m looking forward to the Valencia GP, a circuit that I know very well. Thanks to the team for working so well and without respite”.

MB CONVEYORS-SPEED UP: QUALIFYING

STUNNING FRONT ROW START FOR QUARTARARO IN THE MALAYSIAN GRAN PRIX. PONS WILL START FROM THE SEVENTH

The Malaysian rain also hit the second day of the Grand Prix, but fortunately saved the Moto2 qualifying at the Sepang International Circuit.
After the good feelings in the free practice sessions, confirmation came in today’s qualifying session with the Quartararo’s third best time who took the first row of the starting grid, the third of the season after the pole position gained in the Grand Prix of Catalunya. The French rider is very strong and in QP is amazing starting the session among the first from the beginning and at the end of the qualifying he sealed the first row with his fastest lap (2’06.295).
In Sepang Edgar Pons achieved his best qualifying with the Speed Up bike with the nineteenth session time. After a hard Friday, the MB Conveyors-Speed Up rider and his technical staff worked together on the set-up of the bike trying different solutions that increased the feeling and so the performance of the young Spaniard who will start from the seventh row of the starting grid.
Tomorrow’s Moto2 race has been anticipated by two hours to avoid bad weather and will therefore be live at 4:20 am Italian time.

FABIO QUARTARARO#20 – 3rd in 2’06.295
“I am happy with today! This morning was a more complicated session than the others due to bad weather, but in the afternoon we found the good feeling we had yesterday and we did a good qualifying. We started immediately with a good pace, continually improving the lap time. I am happy to start from the front row and I hope to take advantage of the position as much as possible. We still do not know what the track conditions will be like, crossing my fingers for a dry race”.

EDGAR PONS#57 – 19th in 2’07.251

“Much better today! In Fp3 we had some difficulties due to the mixed conditions of the track. We have to work harder in those conditions because we are not as fast as we should. In qualifying, on the other hand, the track was 100% dry. I managed to find a good feeling that allowed me to grab a good lap, greatly reducing the time of the free practice sessions. It’s the best qualifying with the Speed Up bike, I’m really happy because we are faster and stronger. We will see tomorrow first of all what the weather will be, we do not know if it will rain or not and if it rains it will be my first wet race with this bike and in case I hope the feeling will not change”.

MB CONVEYORS-SPEED UP TEAM COMPETITIVE AT SEPANG CIRCUIT IN FRIDAY FP SESSIONS

MB Conveyors-Speed Up team’s Fabio Quartararo and Edgar Pons kicked off the last Asian weekend of the 2018 season at the Sepang International Circuit.
The changing weather conditions, with humidity and intermittent rain, and the difficulties of a varied and challenging track put Quartararo and Pons to the test, both working hard to find the ideal setting of their Speed Up bikes for the qualifying session and race.
The young Frenchman couldn’t fully exploit the 45-minute morning practice session, but quickly recovered with an incredible performance in Fp2. He gradually got on the pace improving his feeling and taking the second position of the first practice day with a non-existent gap (-0.030) from the first.
The weather has heavily influenced Pons’ day ending the first practice sessions in twenty-fourth position. The young Spaniard improved his pace and reduced the gap in the afternoon session but not enough to climb the rankings as he would like. With enthusiasm and desire to improve, Pons and his staff are planning some changes that will try in tomorrow’s Fp3 to deal with mixed conditions track.

FABIO QUARTARARO#20 – 2nd in 2’06.958
“I’m happy with this first day. In the first practice session we made a mistake that did not allow us to take advantage of the last minutes of the session just when the track was getting dry. In the afternoon we tried two tyre solutions, the hard and the soft, finding an excellent feedback especially with the soft. We hope the track will be dry tomorrow”.

EDGAR PONS#57 – 24th in 2’09.120

“It was a strange day. The weather did not help; in Fp1 the track was still wet from the rain that fell last night and then before the fp2 it rained again and at the start of the session the track was wet and then he got dry. We did not have the right feeling in both the practices but we have changes to set for tomorrow to improve confidence with the bike hoping for a better weather. We want to reduce the gap at any cost and find the right setup in view of tomorrow’s qualifying”.
