Final day of testing on the Andalusian circuit of Jerez de la Frontera for Speed Up Racing Team. Fabio Quartararo and Danny Kent finish the second official test of the year respectively in eighteenth and twentieth position. The French rider scored his best time in 1’42.475 in session3 on the third day showing a growing progress in the 3 days (196 laps). Teammate Kent, with 147 laps in total, finished the test in 1’42.527.
Riders and technical staff have worked hard on the suspension and balance of the bikes to improve the setting of the Speed Up SF18. There have been little improvements, but there is still work to be done to find the optimal setting. The last 3 days of testing will therefore be of fundamental importance before the start of the 2018 Championship which will take place in Jerez de la Frontera on 6-7-8 March.
Danny Kent#52: “Honestly these 2 tests have been very difficult for me and the team. We have tried many solutions but the same problem keeps occurring. We are a little bit confused but I believe in my crew and my team. We will keep pushing 110% to solver this problema before Qatar!”
Fabio Quartararo#20: “They have been 3 challenging days in which we worked a lot on the setting of the bike. We found a problem with the rear shock that we will try to solve in the next official test in March. I am sure that once the setting is solved we will improve a lot!”
Moto2-KENT AND QUARTARARO CONCLUDE THE FIRST 2018 TEST AFFECTED BY RAIN AND COLD
Three days of Moto2 testing came to a close today at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia.
The low temperatures have significantly affected the entire test. Riders and teams were stuck in the pit-boxes in the first day because of rain and too cold weather. Very low temperatures even in the other 2 days that forced almost all the riders to skip the first session of the morning.
Important information was gathered during the four test sessions by the Speed Up riders who, together with their staff, made continuous changes to the SF18 setting that will be very useful for the development of the bike.
Fabio Quartararo completed 109 laps and placed eleventh in 1’36.801 and Danny Kent finished eighteenth (85 laps – 1’37.303).
Speed Up Racing Team will return on track for the second pre-season Official Test from 12th to 14th February at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in Spain.
Danny Kent#52: “It has been good to finally get back riding the Speed Up after the winter break. It has been a difficult test in many ways because the weather was too cold, or the track was wet. I have enjoyed riding again but I can’t wait to arrive in Jerez now because unfortunately we wasn’t able to solve the problems we had here in Valencia so another 3 days of testing will be good!”
Fabio Quartararo#20: “They have been a little complicated days of testing due to the not optimal weather and track conditions. At the end of the three days we managed to get good feedback but if we could take advantage of the three daily sessions we would certainly have achieved better results. It’s just the beginning, so let’s go to Jerez with enthusiasm and desire to improve!”
