Moto2-RACE-GoPro MOTORRAD GRAND PRIX DEUTSCHLAND

SIMONE CORSI ONE STEP AWAY FROM THE PODIUM. A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR TYRE FORCES AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ TO RETIRE

In his best performance of 2017 season, Simone Corsi authoritatively takes a nice fourth place on his Speed UP SF7 bike in the German Grand Prix. Penalized from the start, Corsi had to struggle from the eleventh position. The Roman rider, determined to recover as many positions as possible to join the first, opens the gas and begins the comeback. Author of an excellent performance, he finishes the race fourth, with only seven tenths from the first, taking the eighth place of the overall standings.

On the other part of Speed Up box, a problem with the rear tyre penalized Augusto Fernandez, who was forced to retire after seven laps from start of the race.

SIMONE CORSI#24 – 4th
“This is the best result of this season, very important for me and for the team! Too bad to miss the podium for so little, it will be our goal for the next race. The thing that is now most important is to continue in this way and get even more prepared and excited for the second part of the championship, the podium is waiting for us! I thank all my team, we are great together! “

AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ#37 – RETIRED
“We wasted a very good time when we could really do well today. I’m sorry, it’s a shame to end in this way a weekend in which we worked well and we had a good step in both track conditions, dry and wet. Unfortunately, it did not depend on us, a problem with the rear tire conditioned our race. Now let’s look at the second half of the season. The goal to reach is still the points area! “

Moto2-QUALIFICHE AL SACHSENRING

SIMONE CORSI WITH A GOOD SPOT ON THE THIRD ROW. FERNANDEZ WILL START FROM THE SEVENTH ROW, CONSISTENTLY IMPROVING HIS TIMES

Wet qualifying session at the Sachsenring circuit. The intermittent rain made today the track in bad conditions for the whole session.

Both Speed Up team riders confirmed the hard work done over these two days of practice. Simone Corsi rode his Speed Up SF7 to the eighth best time (1’33.074), which earned him a spot on the third row of the starting grid tomorrow. Augusto Fernandez has continued to improve his times finishing the qualifying session in 1’34.105 that places him on the seventh row with the nineteenth best time.

SIMONE CORSI#24 – 8°
“I’m pretty happy with today’s qualifying. The track conditions were quite difficult. When we started the session the track was almost dry, then it started raining for a few minutes so we went back to the box. We then started riding in wet track conditions, but with no rain. The feeling was good with the bike, I could have improved the position if I just overtook a rider in the T1 that was slowing me down during the last lap. Tomorrow I hope in a dry race, although I have a good feeling in both situations. “

AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ#37 – 19°
“I’m glad that’s the best qualification we have done so far. More could be done, but after the crash in Assen I had lost a bit of confidence in the wet and so I’m happy with today’s result. We have a good pace in both situations, both with a dry and wet track. If we want to get to the points area we have to start well and recover a few positions. I will do my best!”

SIMONE CORSI#24 – 8° in 1’25.347
“Today we used two tyre options, hard in FP1 and soft in FP2. I had better feelings with the first, especially on the race pace. In the afternoon I expected more, but with the change of the tyre we lose the good feeling we had with the rear. We have to understand the reason of it before tomorrow’s qualifying, and get ready for a completely different situation in the case of wet qualifying session. “

AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ#37 – 19° in 1’26.292
“It’s good today. This morning we did a good session, we had some things to improve in FP2 that we could not solve, but I managed to improved slightly in the morning though the feeling was worse. Tomorrow will be the weather to decide the setting to use, the only thing that counts is a good qualification. “

SIMONE CORSI#24 – not classified

“I did not make a good start so I tried to get positions right away. After the first turns I was thirteen, I tried to push more when I saw there was room for overtaking Marini and I stuck into it, but he resisted without leaving me on and I think that at that moment we touched each other and went off the track. I’m sorry about how it went today because we could have done a good race and bring at home important points, we’ll do it in Sachsenring next Sunday! ”

AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ#37 – 19th

“I’m happy with today’s performance! We have improved the position and reduced the gap from the first in both the fast lap and the total race time. I’m sorry cause I didn’t push enough into the first part of the competition, I could certainly have done better. I missed the single qualifying lap, I found some problems on the rear that we could not solve. We hope in a dry warm up and a dry race so we will have time to settle a few things in the morning. “

AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ#37 – 22th in 1’39.958

“After the start of this GP where it seemed to go all wrong, we finally managed to improve and make a good qualifying session. Fortunately, I did not lose confidence after this morning crash. When I got back on the bike for the qualifying, I immediately noticed that the track was drying. With the “slick” I felt immediately at ease and I could manage to improve and reduce the gap by eight tenth. My goal for tomorrow is the points area. I will do my best!”

We We had to work a lot during the second practice to recover the lost time in the morning. The feeling wth the bike is not bad even if we need to improve in T1 and T4. The eight tenths from the first do not scare me because I know that with the information we have recovered today we can find the setup for Sunday race”.

AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ#37 – 32nd in 1’40.880
“It was a tough day, very difficult to me. The track is complicated and I have found some difficulties, especially in the last part of the track. I managed to improve a few tenths in the afternoon, but if we want a good grid position we have to work a lot before the qualifying. I have to improve my ride and with the right way I can reduce the gap from the first. The only thing to do is keep working as we are already doing. “
