MOTO2 – FIFTH AND TENTH ROW FOR SPEED UP RACING TEAM RIDERS AT THE HJC HELMETS GP THE FRANCE
The second day of sessions ended at the French Grand Prix. The Speed Up Racing Team standard-bearers will start tomorrow from the fifth (Corsi, 14th) and tenth (Bassani, 28th) row on the grid. Simone Corsi, although the two crashes in the two sessions of the day and the chattering problems, ends the pre-race day with just seven tenth from the first, ready to compete in tomorrow’s challenge.
Teammate, Axel Bassani, has proven his steady growth after each session. In fact, he managed to regain more than a second in qualifying and proves that he is ready to fight.
SIMONE CORSI#24 – 14th in 1’37.280
“I’m not happy with the grid position. We have still not found a definitive solution to the chattering problem that prevents me from driving the bike as I would like. I feel slow when turning, but if we solve that problem we can do a good race! “
AXEL BASSANI#47 – 28 th in 1’38.733
“Even if we took one step forward, we could do much more because it’s never enough. The rear wheel was often spinning during qualifying so riding was more difficult. However, we managed to lower the lap time around a second and that’s very important because it means we are working well, improving race by race. Tomorrow’s goal is to reduce the gap from the first and improve the race performance. I will do all I can!”
MOTO2 – FIRST DAY OF FREE PRACTICE SESSIONS AT LE MANS FOR SPEED UP TEAM
The Moto2 weekend has started at HJC Helmets Grand Prix de France. The first free practice sessions demanded particular dedication from Speed Up riders because of weather conditions, traditionally uncertain at Le Mans. In FP1 the track was initially partly wet and got dry at the end of the session. Simone Corsi placed eighth in 1’38.740 with a gap of just 0.582 tenths and Bassani thirty-first in 1’41.343. In the afternoon, a heavy rain forced the riders to a very wet FP2. Corsi got the seventh place (in 1’48.028) and Bassani the thirty-fisrt (in 1’51.715).
“It was a positive day because we were competitive on both track conditions. It’s hard to work like this, but I have good feelings for this weekend. We have retrieved a lot of setup information we will use in the third free practice session of tomorrow looking forward for a good qualification.
“It’s a new track for me, this of Le Mans. One of the many that I will ride in this my first World Championship. Today’s sessions have not gone as I hoped, I need to get more confidence with the track and improve my performance”.
MOTO2 – GOOD RACE FOR BASSANI AT THE FIRST EUROPEAN GRAND PRIX. CORSI CRASHES OUT ON LAP THREE.
Speed Up team archives the Gran Premio de España with half a smile. In fact, Simone Corsi crashed out at turn six of lap three, while his teammate Axel Bassani ends the race twenty-third improving from previous competitions.
The Roman rider, who started thirteenth, was involved in a crash with Vierge and Nakagami, finishing the race in a bad way as he and the team knew they could fight for the podium.
Bassani, despite some chattering problems, managed to gain some positions confirming his progress.
“I am very upset about how the race finished, because I felt confident with the bike and the track conditions. We worked a lot and very well with the team during all the weekend and this is not what we were expecting for this Gp. We cannot wait to get back on track in Le Mans to forget this race!”
AXEL BASSANI#47 – 23°
“We have had unexpected chattering problems and we do not know if they came from the tire or the bike setting. I could do so much more, in any case, I am happy because compared to the previous races we have reduced the gap from the first. We made a step forward and now we have to continue in this way!”
MOTO2 – FIFTH AND TENTH ROW FOR SPEED UP RIDERS IN THE GRAN PREMIO RED BULL DE ESPAÑA
The two Speed Up team riders will start from the fifth and tenth row of the grid for the Gran Premio Red Bull de España, which will be held tomorrow at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit.
In the morning’s FP3 session, Corsi was fourth in 1’42,646 with a gap of just four tenths from the first. In the afternoon the temperature rose, thus track conditions changed and Simone with some setup problems managed to reach the thirteenth time towards the end of the qualifying session.
Spinning problems in the rear wheel for rookie Axel Bassani who placed thirtieth. Tomorrow’s warm up will be essential for both riders to find a setting solution before the race.
SIMONE CORSI#24 – 13° – in 1’43,179
“After the morning’s session, I expected to qualify in a better position. We were fast and the feeling was very good, then in the afternoon I was not able to get a good feeling with the bike even when temperature changed and so the track conditions. But I am still confident! Tomorrow morning we will modify the setup and I hope we will get what we need. It will be a long race, I have to stay focused, have a good race pace and do not give up!
AXEL BASSANI#47 – 30° – in 1’44,605
“I am not at all satisfied with today! This is a short track, but it has many turns and in some of these I am not able to improve, mostly in the number seven and thirteen. I did not manage to push as I wanted because of the spinning. I hope I will fix the problem in tomorrow’s warm up. I will do my best!”.
MOTO2 – FIRST DAY OF FREE PRACTICE SESSIONS AT THE GRAN PREMIO RED BULL DE ESPAÑA
The first day of free practice at Jerez de la Frontera marked the European début of the Moto2 season after the first race in Qatar and the two American rounds in Argentina and Texas.
An intermittent rain conditioned the first session in the morning, while in the afternoon it stopped raining and the sun came out and partially draining the truck. Though his physical condition was not optimal due to flu symptoms, Speed Up rider Simone Corsi managed to find a good bike setup at the end of the second session placing thirteenth with a gap of seven tenths. Teammate Axel Bassani finished thirty-third.
“I am happy with the set up of the bike, we are on the right way. Tomorrow we will work on the rear hoping to recover the grip and so get a good position in the qualifying session because I am sure we can fight for a good result!”
“This morning I had some problems with the rear and I had to struggle a lot to find the feeling with the bike because of the wet conditions. Feelings improved once the track began to get dry. In fact, we were able to improve the setup and I felt much safer. Unfortunately, I made a mistake in the last lap and I lost the possibility to gain some positions.”
