SPEED UP RACING TEAM OUT OF POINT ZONE IN THE FIRST RACE OF THE MOTO2 CHANPIONSHIP IN LOSAIL
The first race of the season for the Moto2 class has just ended at the International Circuit of Losail.
After qualifying cancellation, the starting grid was drawn up according to the position obtained in the combined of the three free practice sessions. Simone Corsi and Ricky Cardús respectively start from eighth and tenth row.
The Roman rider grabbed immediately positions up to the fifteenth place in the race. Unfortunately, chattering problems did not allow him to hold the position and so he finally concluded seventeenth. As for the Spaniard Cardús, despite the short time he had to find the feeling with the Speed Up SF7, he succeeded in complete the race still improving himself.
SIMONE CORSI#24 -17th-
“We grabbed some positions in the first laps, but halfway through the competition, when I reached the fifteenth position, I started to feel chattering problems and I wasn’t able to keep the same pace. I did not expect such a hard start. We need to work more with the team to be more competitive in the coming races.
RICKY CARDÚS#88 -25th-
“The qualifying session was very important to me, the three free practices were not enough to find the right setting. Today I was not able to run with the pace I was hoping for. Also I made a mistake on the third lap and so I lost the front group. Surely I could have done better. I thank the team for asking me to come and think of me as the substitute.”
LAST FREE PRACTICE SESSION OF THE GRAND PRIX OF QATAR
The second day of Moto2 free practice session has just ended at the International circuit of Losail, Qatar.
Riders and Team are hardly working to find the feeling with the Speed Up bikes and a good set-up for tomorrow’s qualifying.
In this session Simone Corsi decided to focus on the race pace, but the chattering problems preventing him from getting a good lap time. His team-mate for this race, Ricky Cardús, is gaining confidence with the Speed Up SF7 lap by lap.

“I thought we could have more from this session, mostly after having partly solved the chattering problems we had during yesterday’s first free practice session, but we couldn’t. We took a step back from yesterday’s second session. Today’s setting was not what I was looking for, but we still have the qualifying to improve the set-up and grab a good position on the grid. ”

“We are on the right track! I could not make the lap time I wanted because I was nervous, but it went definitely better than yesterday. I hope to increase the confidence with the bike and improve once more in the qualifying session.”
FIRST FREE PRACTICE SESSIONS OF THE 2017 SEASON AT LOSAIL CIRCUIT
The Moto2 World Championship has finally started at Losail International Circuit. The weather expected for this weekend is uncertain as happened in the official test of last week disturbed by wind and rain. Speed Up staff is excited for the new season which, as in 2016, will touch 18 circuits in 15 countries all over the world.
The Speed Up rider Simone Corsi, during the two sessions of free practice today, after some initial difficulties he managed to improve the feeling with the bike and reduce the gap in the second session.
As previously announced, Ricky Cardús will be Corsi’s mate for this first race. The first impact with the Speed Up SF7 was positive and the Spaniard feels determined to improve the feeling with the bike before Sunday’s race.

“In the first round of testing I found chattering problems and with the crash towards the end put me on last positions. In the second session, I was able to catch up reducing the gap from the first.
I feel ready and excited to start another season with the Speed Up team. “
RICKY CARDÚS # 88
“I’m really happy to be back on a Speed UP. We are working on the setting of the bike to suit my driving style and the work done so far has already brought some progress. We used the same tires for both practice sessions and I am sure that when we will change them we will improve again. I want to thank Luca and the team for giving me the opportunity to come back racing with them and on this track, I’ll give it my all. “
Speed Up Racing rider Axel Bassani will not participate in the Official Test and in the first Grand Prix of Qatar in the Moto2 category. Following an operation took place at the end of last year, the young rider is still not in good conditions to run a race, Ricard Cardús in his place. The team has decided to start the championship with the Spanish, who has already gained experience in previous years competing in the same category with a Speed Up bike.
As for rookie Axel Bassani, the hope is to see him back on the bike for the second race of the championship at Termas de Rio Hondo circuit, in Argentina.
CONCLUDED IN JEREZ THE FIRST OFFICIAL TEST OF THE SEASON
With the third and last test session of today, Moto2 official test came to a close at Jerez de la Frontera circuit, in Spain. The two Speed Up riders Simone Corsi and Axel Bassani tried various set up in order to improve their feeling with the new Speed Up bike SF7.
Corsi, during the three days of test, was able to give to the technical team important information about the bike setting, focusing on the areas to be optimised for a competitive championship.
On the other side of the Speed Up Racing Team box, Bassani at the beginning struggled finding the right feeling with the bike, but together with the team is now working hard continuing down the path towards his first race.
The Moto2 riders will return to the track for the last session of pre-season testing from 17th to 19th of March at the Losail circuit, in Qatar.
SPEED UP TEAM – THE FIRST TEST OF 2017 ENDS IN JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA: SIMONE CORSI AND AXEL BASSANI ON TRACK
The 3 day of private test has just ended at Jerez circuit. On the Speed Up SF7 bikes Axel Bassani and Simone Corsi, the former on his debut in the Moto2 class, the latter has tested for the first time the new Veneto prototype of 2017.
The young Bellunese was forced to close early the test. In fact, yesterday afternoon the Speed Up rider was involved in a crash that did not allowed him to complete the session. Nothing serious for the Speed Up rookie, but he and the team preferred to suspend the test and to continue the work at the box.
After the good results of the first two days of testing, Simone has completed the first outing of the year immediately finding a good feeling with the bike in the various settings that are been tested without facing big difficulties.
The two riders will be back on track again next week in the first official test of the championship at the same circuit in the days 8th-9th-10th March.
